Letter from Principal

Update from Pricipal:

February 22, 2021

Hello Guyton Parents.

I would like to thank parents and students for your cooperation as we continue working together through the COVID-19 pandemic.  It may seem that many of the safeguards currently in place are tedious and inconvenient, but our numbers certainly reflect the success of our efforts to minimize the spread of the virus within our school community.

While our district’s current protocols in response to individuals who test positive for COVID 19 have proven to be effective, we are asking families to please take proactive measures to offset the spread of the virus.  If your child experiences any COVID-like symptoms, please keep them at home until those symptoms improve.  We realize the symptoms for seasonal allergies are similar to those for COVID, but we have had several cases where COVID-positive students have been sent to school under the mistaken assumption that their symptoms were only allergy-related.  Thus causing many other students to be quarantined from school.

Again, please, keep your child at home if he or she experiences fever, cough, runny nose, sinus congestion, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, or loss of either taste or smell.  The school district understands that you are working to ensure other’s wellbeing, so please be assured that your child’s absences will not be held against them. A parent note will suffice as documentation for students’ absences in these cases.

Thank you for doing your part to keep all of our students and families safe!  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out and our staff will assist you in any way possible.

Thank you,

Charlotte V. Connelly, Principal GES
