Sand Hill First Graders Visit Honey Ridge Agricenter

The first graders from Sand Hill Elementary spent a fun-filled day of learning at Honey Ridge Agricenter on September 25th.  With the help of Ag students from South Effingham High School, the students learned about grain production and animal health.  Ms. Gail Westcott from UGA Mary Kahrs Warnell Forest Education spoke to the students about forestry and natural resources. The students planted vegetables in the Farm to Table garden with Mrs. Jessica O'Leary, Nutritional Services Coordinator for ECBOE, as well as found their way through the corn maze.  The STEAM students from South Effingham Middle School explained bee production and pollination.  Everyone enjoyed the hayride and petting the goats, sheep and "Junior" the cow as well as picking out their pumpkin to take home.
