Mrs. Anna Barton, Principal
My name is Anna Barton, and I am very proud to be the principal of South Effingham Elementary School--home of the Mini-Mustangs! This year will be my 7th year as principal, and I love this school wholeheartedly. I have been married for 28 wonderful years to my husband, David. I have 2 sons, David Allen and Ian, who are 27 and 24 years old, respectively. We are originally from South Carolina, and we relocated to Effingham County primarily for the wonderful school system.
My family and I moved to Georgia in 2007 when I was hired here at SEES as a 3rd grade teacher under Mrs. Cheryl Christain and Mrs. Susan Hartzog. I taught here for 5 fantastic years. My Bachelors degree is in Early Childhood Education, and I have a Masters degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy. During my teaching time here at SEES, I finished my Educational Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern University in Brain-based Teaching and Learning with an emphasis on Teacher Leadership. I completed the Effingham County Aspiring Leaders Program in 2011 and was also named Effinham County's Teacher of the Year. The following year, I was hired at Springfield Elementary as the Instructional Supervisor/Assistant Principal. I was hired as principal of SEES in 2014 and was thrilled to be able to come back HOME! Since then, I have also completed my Performance-Based Leadership Certification from Georgia Southern University. This is my 20th year in education, and I look forward to serving this school for many years to come!
My goal as principal here at SEES is to continue our longstanding tradition of excellence in academics while embracing the wonderful community that surrounds us. South Effingham Elementary is known for the high level of support from our parent volunteers, and I ask that you partner with us to make your child(ren)'s education here the best that it can possibly be! I invite you to visit our PTO's Facebook page or email them at SEESPTO@gmail.com. GET INVOLVED! We have the most dedicated, hard-working teachers and staff around, and they will go above and beyond the call of duty to give your child the education he or she deserves.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
