The Bright from the Start Georgia Pre-Kindergarten Program and the Effingham County School System continues to serve four-year-old children and their families with an academic emphasis on school readiness. Certified teachers and trained paraprofessionals provide active learning experiences for the children by helping them become familiar with skills and activities. This is accomplished through a developmentally-appropriate curriculum. Students will learn and discover skills that will help prepare them for kindergarten and future learning. Manipulatives and study centers provide a wide range of academic activities that will enable the students to comprehend both math and reading skills.
This program is a five-day-a-week, regular school day program. Breakfast and lunch may be purchased from the school's cafeteria and snacks are provided. The Board of Education and School Policies/Procedures are applicable to Pre-K students. Examples: book bags are required to be clear or mesh only; attendance requirements (both Bright from the Start and Effingham County policies for excessive absences/tardies/early pick-up) apply, procedures for visitors, etc. However, there is an exception to the Dress Code Policy requirement for school uniforms – Pre-K students MAY but DO NOT have to wear school uniforms, but they are expected to follow the Dress Code policy for wearing non-uniform items to school. The Pre-K Program will furnish school supplies such as pencils, crayons, paper, and rest mats.
