Students Shine at South Effingham Middle School STEA2M Showcase

On Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, South Effingham Middle School proudly hosted its 6th and 8th Grade STEA2M Showcase, highlighting a year’s worth of innovation, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Families, staff, and community partners gathered to witness how students have been working to solve real-world agricultural and environmental challenges.

Throughout the year, students engaged in rich, interdisciplinary experiences in their classrooms, during STEAM learning extensions, and on-site at Honey Ridge Agricenter. These learning opportunities empowered students to investigate meaningful questions such as:

  • 6th Grade: How can we, as extension agents, provide information on maintaining healthy soil nutrients and incorporate modern technology to help grow healthier plants at Honey Ridge Agricenter and in our community?

  • 8th Grade: How can we, as young environmental scientists, develop innovative solutions to reduce methane emissions at Honey Ridge Agricenter and improve overall sustainability?

The showcase was a true testament to the power of community collaboration. With the guidance and mentorship of many local partners, students explored sustainable solutions and shared their findings through engaging presentations and displays. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and creativity our students demonstrated. Thank you to all who attended and to the community members who made this learning journey possible!
