Effingham County 4-H archers had an impressive performance at the State Indoor 4-H Tournament held in Perry, Georgia on January 17th, showcasing both competitive success and personal growth throughout the event.
In the Cloverleaf division, which featured 172 competitors from across the state, five Effingham County archers placed in the top 30. Andrew Moore led the group with an outstanding score of 270, earning a fourth-place overall finish. Emma Willoughby and Charlotte Orlando followed closely, scoring 249 to place 20th and 21st, respectively. Brantley Gibbs and Ava Rumler each posted scores of 246, finishing 27th and 28th. Many of Effingham’s Cloverleaf shooters also recorded personal-best rounds, highlighting the progress made during the indoor season. This is even more notable as many of these young archers had never touched a bow before joining 4-H Archery this year.
Strong performances continued in the Junior divisions. In the Junior Male bracket of 96 competitors, Jarret Lee earned a fifth-place finish with a score of 273. Brady Rahn placed 11th with a 264, while Ford Smith finished 13th after posting a 254.
The Junior Female division proved especially successful for Effingham County. Audrieanna Kinsey claimed first place with an impressive score of 295, bringing home the gold. Her score now stands as the highest ever recorded by an Effingham County archer at an indoor competition across all brackets. Out of 66 Junior Female competitors, Effingham County secured five spots in the top 10. Paislee Singley finished sixth with a score of 252, Taylor Beck placed seventh with a 244, Carly Campbell earned ninth with a 233, and Gracie Rutland rounded out the top 10 with a score of 231.
In the Senior Female bracket, which included 94 competitors, Jena Lee placed eighth with a score of 281, followed by Ava Green in 16th with a 265. The Senior Male division also saw strong results among 102 competitors, with Hunter Morris finishing 13th after scoring 283,
Andrew Moseley placing 15th with a 282, and Owen Woods finishing 19th with a score of 274.
While the team was pleased with the results on the scoreboard, coaches noted that the greatest success came from the visible improvement and dedication shown by the archers throughout the season. With months of hard work behind them and plenty of enthusiasm ahead, the Effingham County 4-H archery team is now preparing for the outdoor season. The team looks forward to continuing their momentous success at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in May for State Competition.
