Live Oak Public Libraries New Literacy Initiative

Live Oak Public Libraries New Literacy Initiative

The Effingham County School District is excited to share a wonderful new literacy initiative from our friends at Live Oak Public Libraries!

LOPL is launching Decodable Book Kits at all of their branches to support early readers with resources that align with what our students are learning in school. These kits include books and guidance designed to help children strengthen foundational reading skills.

Even better—by early May, the Springfield branch will be one of the first to open a Ready to Read Center! These centers provide dedicated spaces filled with decodable books, hands-on resources, and literacy-based activities.

We’re proud to partner with organizations like LOPL that are committed to building a strong reading foundation for all children. Let’s keep inspiring a love for reading—at school and beyond!

A Special Message from Live Oak Public Libraries:

This month, LOPL launches Decodable Book Kits designed to support early readers. At any LOPL branch, patrons can check out Kits containing books and guidance that align with the same materials our public school systems use to teach literacy skills.

By early May, five of our branches—Bull Street, Hinesville, Islands, Southwest Chatham and Springfield—will launch Ready to Read Centers. The Centers are dedicated environments within our branches stocked with decodable books, resources and activities that align with how today’s teachers are teaching reading, spelling and related language skills. Our staff are specially trained to help you help your child learn to love to read.

We will launch Ready to Read Centers across the system over the next several months.
