The Effingham County Board of Education has scheduled a public meeting to establish the 2026 millage rate, proposing a further rollback from 18.018 mills down to 16.45 mills.

The meeting will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 8:30 AM at the Effingham County Board Office, 405 North Ash Street, Springfield, GA.

This proposed reduction follows the district’s recent vote to lower the millage rate from 18.45 mills to 18.018 mills. The additional 2 mills proposed are due to money generated by the land sale to OpenAI. 

"We will continue to invest in quality instruction by investing in our teachers and staff and providing the needed resources for our students while remaining responsible stewards to our taxpayers," said Superintendent Dr. Yancy Ford.
