ECSD Competes in the National Beta Convention
Several Effingham elementary schools competed in the National Beta Convention held this summer in Savannah, Georgia. Among the elementary schools competing were our very own Blandford, Ebenezer, and Sand Hill Elementary Schools!
Ebenezer Elementary competed as “Team Talon” in the Robotics Showcase, where they placed in the top ten out of fifty teams competing! The Ebenezer chapter also participated in Beta Serves, the national service project that allows the Beta members attending the national convention to serve the community. National Beta researches a problem in a host city and bases the project on that issue. It was decided that they would do a donation drive to provide school supplies to the students of Chatham County public schools. Ebenezer brought in school supplies for the project and not only placed top ten, they in fact placed first and were named champion of the donation drive.
Sand Hill Elementary participated in the National Convention, where twelve students competed in a variety of competitions which included Create and Animate, Meeting of the Minds, Marketing, Recycle and Reimagine, Poetry, Spanish and Scrapbooking. Zoe Brantley placed 6th in Poetry for Sand Hill Elementary.
Blandford Elementary also participated in the in the academic competition in which Connor Banks placed 8th in 5th grade ELA.
Effingham County High School students participated in their own National Beta Convention where the class of 2024 Valedictorian, Nathaniel Hayes, placed tenth in the nation as a Performing Arts Senior. Katherine Deal, another ECHS student, placed sixth in English and Language Arts in the nation.
ECCA students also participated in the National Beta Convention. Congratulations to the following ECCA winners! Abrianna Kaunath earned 3rd place in Jewelry, Charly Logan 6th place in Speech, and Abigail Sulkowski 4th place in Creative Writing. A special medal was awarded to Savannah Hutchings and Elayna Pittman for being selected as Premiere Performers in Dancing.
The following students also qualified and competed in the following categories: Shelby Roberts in Recyclable Art, Elayna Pittman in Performing Arts Solo Dancer, Shelby Roberts, Jayden Mueller and Robin Cowart in Engineering, Jayden Mueller in Painting, Ean Cerkoney and Madalyn Sloan in Color Photography, Ronin Cowart in Science, Andrew Moseley and Archie Gerard Thigpen in Social Studies, and Matthew Ji in Math. Great Job ECCA Betas!
We are so proud of our fellow Betas for exhibiting their talent, and academic achievements on a national stage. It shows the standards and expectations of Effingham Schools as well as the work ethic and integrity of our students.
