Crossroads Academy students and staff joined City of Rincon leaders on Monday, October 27, to kick off National Red Ribbon Week by tying red ribbons across the city in support of living a drug-free lifestyle.
Participants included Council Members Tim Milner and Michele Taylor, Police Chief Jonathan Murrell, and Rincon Public Relations representative Gena Sullivan, along with eight Crossroads Academy students, Crossroads Teacher of the Year Christy Anderson, Support Person of the Year Britny Gnann, and Coordinator Matt Huntley.
The group visited six locations, including the Rincon sign on 4th Street, two Rincon signs on Old Augusta Road, the Rincon sign on Highway 21 South, Veterans Park outside the library, and City Hall.

This event highlights the partnership between the City of Rincon and the Effingham County School District, promoting awareness and encouraging students to make healthy, drug-free choices.
“Red Ribbon Week is about unity and commitment to a positive, healthy lifestyle,” said Coordinator Matt Huntley. “We’re proud to stand together with our students, staff, and city leaders to show our support for a drug-free community.”
