Administrators Leveling Up for the 2024-25 School Year
Monday, July 22nd was the annual Administrator meeting for Effingham Schools, to prepare the school’s admin teams for the upcoming school year.
For this meeting, Superintendent, Dr. Yancy Ford spoke to the leaders of every Effingham school about the costs of leadership. He spoke about setting standards for teachers and enforcing those standards, which includes having hard conversations, facing unprecedented challenges, and acting as an example for staff and students.
Dr. Ford focused on setting standards of excellence with the theme of the meeting being centered around “leveling up”. Ford talked about “leveling up” being of growth made by a school and setting high standards and living up to those standards. Lexile scores, test scores, and teacher retention have all been areas Effingham Schools has had significant growth in and are perfect examples of how the schools have “leveled up.” Dr. Ford also used an analogy relating to Super Mario to capture the experience of being a school principal facing a variety of challenges and obstacles that are basic to the job and some that can be completely unpredictable.
The meeting was a great convention of Effingham School’s leaders, the people students see every day, and the people who manage the day to day functions of our schools with a smile and calm attitude. The Admins old and new are now getting ready for a new school year, ready to grow, learn, and celebrate every little bit of success that the new year brings.
