Later that afternoon, Honey Ridge hosted its annual fall festival, which was free for families and attracted over 2,000 visitors. The festival featured food, entertainment, and activities that brought the community together to enjoy the season. The event was a resounding success, drawing families and community members to celebrate local agricultural achievements and family-friendly festivities.
Adding to the excitement, Honey Ridge held its 1st Annual Admin Showdown, featuring 11 administrators from the Effingham County School District. With the assistance of FFA students who generously lent their prized show goats, the administrators received a crash course in livestock showing before stepping into the ring. The spirited competition saw Heather Strickland, Instructional Supervisor and Assistant Principal at Ebenezer Middle School, crowned as Grand Champion. Sarah Huntley, Principal at Effingham College and Career Academy, won the title of Best Dressed, adding a touch of flair to the event.
"This weekend showcased the incredible spirit of our community and the dedication of our students. The excitement around the new Honey Ridge Arena, the first-ever Admin Showdown, and the overwhelming turnout for the Fall Farm Festival highlights the strong support for agriculture in Effingham County. We’re grateful for the backing from our leadership, educators, and families—it truly makes a difference."
