MUSTANGS. . .The Legend Lives!
Dr. Mark Winters, PrincipalThe Mustang Legend expands and grows every year through the numerous accomplishments of students and staff.
SEHS graduates attend universities and colleges throughout the country. Each year, the largest group of graduates attend Georgia Southern University. Mustangs are accepted at The University of Georgia, Georiga Tech, Savannah State University, Mercer University, and Kennesaw State University. Mustangs also attend universities as far away as Cornell University, Columbia University, University of Miami and University of Arizona. Other graduates have attended and graduated from West Point and The Air Force Academy. These are only a few of the colleges and universites graduates of SEHS have attended. We celebrate college decision day each year in early May with seniors who have been accepted and who have committed to attend a university or college.
In the area of fine arts, the SEHS band program continues to earn accolades as they march through numerous competitions. Each summer, students are active in band camp, and I see as well as hear what will be another awesome year for our band program.
Through NJROTC, SEHS cadets compete locally and nationally in many areas including marksmanship and drill competition. SEHS cadets regularly earn a unit of distinction award.
In athletics, SEHS celebrates winning the Regions Bank Athletic Directors Cup.
Additionally, SEHS Clubs celebrate region awards and state awards with some going on to nationals
Mustangs create a feeling of American pride, youthful enthusiasm, and enduring strength. In the song “Mustang Sally,” Wilson Pickett sang, “You better slow that Mustang down.” As SEHS Mustangs, we must vow never to slow down in our drive for achieving higher levels of success.
As we begin a new year, we have great expectations for achieving even greater success. How much is added to the legendary success of SEHS depends on you, on me, and on our thundering herd. In order to be legendary, we must work hard and strive for extraordinary accomplishments. This year I challenge you to set high goals, to work harder than ever, to be extraordinary, and to add amazing accomplishments to the Mustang Legend.
