Pups Uplifting People
Meet Piper
Piper is a 7-year-old English Springer Spaniel Border Collie mix and is currently a Therapy Dog in-Training in our animal-assisted intervention therapy dog program. She was adopted as a baby pup from English Springer Rescue America (ESRA) after she and her siblings were found dumped on a farm in Louisiana.
Piper is partnered with Ms. Kate Keith, our district's Social Emotional Learning Coordinator.
Meet Noodle
Noodle is about 2 years old and is an Irish Doodle. He is currently a Therapy Dog in-Training in our animal-assisted intervention therapy dog program. Noodle was trained by SD Gunner Fund to serve a Veteran but now has a new mission to care for the students of the Effingham County School District.
Noodle is partnered with Ms. Tara Lamb, a counselor at Effingham County High School.
Kate Keith, our Social Emotional Learning Coordinator, and Tara Lamb, an ECHS Counselor, are teaming up with Piper and Noodle, Therapy Dogs-in-Training. Noodle, a 2 year old Irish Doodle, and Piper, a 7 year old English Springer Spaniel Border Collie mix, are part of the P.U.P. Program (Pups Uplifting People). P.U.P. is an animal-assisted intervention therapy dog program that the district hopes to expand through the help of grants.
The dogs transitioned out of Advanced Obedience Training through Southern Edge K9 on November 4, 2022. The following week, Ms. Lamb, Noodle, Ms. Keith, and Piper began their 600 hours of therapy dog training with SD Gunner Fund where the dogs learn how to partner with their handlers in therapy.
