Flu

Flu season is almost here!  The BEST protection against the influenza virus is immunization.  You will soon be receiving a flu information letter and parent permission form.  Please look for this two-sided form in your child's book bag and read carefully.  Also attached is the vaccine information sheet for your reference. If you wish for your child to be immunized at the in-school clinics, please read, complete the permission form, and return to the school nurse no later than Friday, September 16th.

If you do NOT wish for your child to be immunized, do NOT return the form.

The Effingham County Health Department will once again provide flu vaccines in each school. Clinics will begin the week of October 11th. Please check with the school about your child's specific date.

ONLY the injectable (shot) vaccine is available for administration. The CDC recommends the flu vaccine for all persons over 6 months of age. Flu vaccines not only provide the best protection, they help reduce absences from school and work.

For questions, contact your school nurse or the Effingham County Health department at 912-754-6484.

Remember, all forms must be received no later than Friday, September 16th.

We encourage you to participate in this valuable program to protect your child!
