Welcome to Effingham County!

It does not take long for newcomers to Effingham County to realize that pride in tradition co-exists with a vision for the future.

The historical significance of the area is evidenced by loyalty and positive citizenship.

Although only 30 miles from the city of Savannah and 45 minutes from the beaches of coastal Georgia, Effingham County still manages to preserve its rural atmosphere and “home-town values” while providing citizens with urban amenities and civic opportunities.

Our county's conservative yet progressive values and excellent schools are two of the reasons we are one of the fastest-growing areas in Georgia. Despite the tremendous growth the Effingham County School System is experiencing, the Board of Education continues to maintain a student-oriented focus. Low student / teacher ratios, quality, permanent classroom space, and innovative instructional programs help explain why students, on average, perform better than the state average. Strong parent, community and business support also contribute to our success as one of the most innovative school systems in Georgia.
