Weather update 2/01/26 @ 12:15 PM

Out of an abundance of caution, all Effingham County schools will be closed on Monday, February 2.

We continue to monitor weather conditions and road safety closely and remain in constant communication with Effingham Emergency Management Agency (EEMA). While many main roads are expected to be clear, several roads throughout Effingham County—especially those with heavy tree cover and limited sunlight—may remain icy and unsafe. These conditions could create dangerous travel situations for our families, staff, and school buses.

The safety of our students, staff, and families is always our number one priority, and this decision was made with that commitment in mind.

At this time, we anticipate that conditions will improve and that normal school operations will resume on Tuesday, February 3. We will send an update by 3:00 p.m. on Monday to confirm plans for Tuesday.

We understand that weather-related closures can be challenging, and we truly appreciate your patience and trust as we work to make the safest decisions possible. Thank you for your continued support of ECSD.
