Mrs. Kenza Murray

Mrs. Kenza Murray is in her fourteenth year as Director of Bands at Ebenezer Middle School in Effingham County, Georgia.  Prior to coming to Ebenezer, Mrs. Murray was the Associate Director of Bands at Effingham County High School.  Under her direction, the Ebenezer ensembles consistently receive Superior ratings in performance evaluation appearances and have appeared as a guest performing ensembles at the University of Georgia Middle School Band Festival, the Music for All Southeastern Regional Concert Band Festival, and the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference.  The Ebenezer Middle School Eagle Winds was a recipient of the Georgia Music Educators Association Exemplary Performance Award for the 2015-16 school year.

A native of Jesup, Georgia, Mrs. Murray is a graduate of Georgia Southern University where she served as drum major of the Southern Pride Marching Band, as well as principal flutist of the wind ensemble and orchestra.  Mrs. Murray earned her Master of Music Education Degree from the University of Georgia.  She has received the National Band Association's Citation of Excellence on four occasions for her outstanding contributions to bands and band music.  She was named the 2016-17 Teacher of the Year for Ebenezer Middle School.  She has been named the Outstanding Mentor Teacher Award Recipient for the Southeast P-20 Collaborative, 2021-22.

Professional affiliations include Phi Beta Mu, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Georgia Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the National Band Association.  She serves as the GMEA District 1 District Honor Band Organizing Chair.

Mrs. Murray lives in Springfield, Georgia with her husband Tony and their two boys Colton and Easton.
