Bachelor's of Elementary Education UNM-2006 Master's of Curriculum and Instruction UOP-2010 GASPC certified Utilizing Google Classroom and Remind

Mrs. Jennifer Acosta

I have been an educator for 15 years. I was born and raised in the four corners area, and I graduated from Cibola High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2002. I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico in December of 2006 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in the fall of 2007 to work as a first-grade teacher at Raul P. Elizondo Elementary School. That year our school underwent a RIF and I volunteered to teach 5th grade. I quickly realized that upper elementary students and the curriculum were my specialties! I enrolled at The University of Phoenix to work on a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in 2009. I taught at EES until 2010, when our district underwent another RIF, and was transferred to Eileen Conners Elementary School to teach 4th grade. I completed my Masters in the fall of 2010. Conners ES became my home and I enjoyed working with the staff and being a part of the community alongside my greatest mentor, Patti Blomstrom. I continue to work as a fourth-grade teacher and was asked to be a part of the 5th-grade team once again, to try departmentalization at the school. It was quite a success! I worked as one of the math and science teachers during this time, and truly developed my craft. In the fall of 2015, I received a job offer from the Department of Defense Education Activity and accepted the opportunity where I relocated to Ludowici, Georgia to be a 6th-grade teacher at Fort Stewart. During this time, I met my husband and welcomed two children, Maximus and Alejandra, into the world. I helped to implement the 6th Grade Academy at Kessler Elementary as the math teacher in the fall of 2017. I continued teaching military-connected students math until the fall of 2019. In the fall of 2019, my family purchased our first home in Rincon! That year, I switched roles to be a 4th-grade teacher at Kessler, and continued the role, until the summer of 2022, when I accepted a position at Effingham County Middle School as a math special education teacher. I left my DoDEA position in order to be closer to home, and make a difference in the community in which my children will group up.
