Baccalaureate Service | May 22nd
The Graduating Class of 2022 will have a celebration service at First Baptist Church of Rincon on May 22nd at 4:00 p.m. It is highly encouraged for the Senior Class and their families to attend this special service. An inspirational message will be provided to help you prepare for Senior Week Activities and life after high school. You will need to wear your gowns only. No graduation caps are needed. Please meet at the church at 3:45 p.m.

Graduation Practice Agenda | Starting May 23rd
Graduation Practice Agenda:
- Practice will be Monday, May 23rd through Wednesday, May 25th, beginning at 8:45. Practice will end by 12:00 each day. All practices will take place in the main gym.
- Monday: Be seated in the gym by 8:45 for attendance check. Seniors will receive any items that belong to them or need attention (CTAE cords, yearbook baby pictures, fee notifications, tickets for special seating, etc.). Review Class Night procedures.
- Tuesday: Be seated in the gym by 8:45 for attendance check. Review graduation lineup, and vote for senior song.
- Wednesday: Be seated in the gym by 8:45 for attendance check. Students will receive a Chick-fil-A biscuit for breakfast. Review graduation lineup.
Attendance:
Students are required to attend all three days of practice. Students MUST leave campus immediately following graduation practice each day.
Students who are tardy or absent will be required to attend a make-up session on Friday to help set up the field.Conduct:
Students are required to adhere to the code of conduct in the student handbook. Any violation of school policies may result in exclusion from the graduation ceremony. Your diploma will be held until disciplinary action has been fulfilled. Any senior who appears to be under the influence at practice, Class Night, or Graduation will be removed, turned over to authorities, and will not be allowed to participate.
- Practice will be Monday, May 23rd through Wednesday, May 25th, beginning at 8:45. Practice will end by 12:00 each day. All practices will take place in the main gym.

Class Night | May 24th
Class Night is on Tuesday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m., in the main gym. You must be in the gym, seated in your assigned seat by 6:45 p.m. For family and friends who cannot attend Class Night in person, professional live streaming will be provided. See the SEHS website for information on how to view the program on your personal device or Smart TV. Any senior who has received a scholarship needs to provide documentation to the counselor’s office by Monday, May 9th. Seniors who have received scholarships should check with a counselor to be certain that their names are scheduled on the Class Night program. Link to Counselor’s Page.
Class Night Attire:
- All seniors will wear graduation gowns, cords and stoles. Caps will not be worn.
- Ladies should wear a black or dark colored dress or dark colored dress pants with a blouse and dark colored, low-heeled, dress shoes.
- Men should wear dark slacks, a white collared shirt, and dark colored dress shoes.

Graduation | May 28th
- Graduation exercises will be on Saturday, May 28th, at 7:00 p.m. at the South Effingham High School football stadium. Professional live streaming will be provided for those who wish to view from home. See the SEHS website for links to view via YouTube.
- Seniors must arrive at the school cafeteria no later than 5:30 p.m.
- Only graduating seniors may enter the building; parents are not permitted to come inside the school building.
- Students are not allowed to bring cell phones, cameras or other personal items on the field. All personal items, including keys, cell phones, wallets, etc. will be collected as students enter their assigned classrooms. Items will be bagged and labeled for students to retrieve after the ceremony. Students are advised to leave
personal items with family members during the ceremony. - During the ceremony, graduates will receive the diploma cover only. After the ceremony, diplomas will be handed out in the auxiliary gym.
- Please note: Students who owe fines will not receive their diplomas until all materials have been turned in
and/or fines are cleared! Check the “Fees” tab in Parent Portal to see if you have any outstanding fines.
Graduation Attire:
- Final delivery date on campus for cap and gowns will be April 6th. If you still have not ordered a cap/gown you need to do so immediately. Please visit the Herff Jones website as soon as possible (hjorder.com). You are advised to call prior to ordering to confirm that your order will arrive in time.
- Ladies:
- You must wear dark-colored shoes or sandals. It is strongly recommended that you wear low-heeled shoes as a safety precaution. Wear a dark-colored dress or dark-colored dress pants with a blouse under your gown.
- Men:
- You must wear dark slacks and a white, button-down shirt with a tie. Dark-colored dress shoes are required.
- Students are not permitted to wear tennis shoes, flip-flops, Crocs, or jeans.
- Follow the handbook rules for hair colors and piercings. No unnatural hair colors are allowed at graduation or Class Night, and nose rings are not permitted.
- Masks are allowed. If worn, please follow school policy: Masks must not contain words, slogans, or images.
- Graduation caps are to be worn flat on your head. Caps may not be decorated in any way.
- Stoles can be embroidered. However, they must be embroidered with initials only on the back of the stole, and the thread must be in school colors.

Graduation Parking | May 28th
Senior Parking:
ALL GRADUATES must park in the South Effingham Middle School teacher parking lot.
Shuttle Service:
Guest parking for Graduation is limited! Guests are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the free shuttle to and from Marlow Elementary School. Shuttle buses drop off at the stadium, so walking will be limited. Parking at Marlow Elementary is also a safer option than parking on the side of the highway!Shuttles will begin leaving MES at 5:30 PM and will run continuously until 7:00 for drop-off at SEHS. The last shuttle going to the ceremony will depart MES at 7:00 PM. Graduation begins at 7:00 PM.
After Graduation, shuttles will begin returning guests to Marlow Elementary at 8:30. Return shuttles will continue until all guests have been returned to their vehicles.
Guest Parking:
Reminders for guests who plan to park at the SEHS campus:- Parking is very limited, so you are strongly encouraged to carpool or use the shuttle service at Marlow Elementary.
- NJROTC and SEHS staff members will be directing drivers to parking spots. Please drive slowly, and follow their directions.
- Handicapped parking is available. You must have your handicapped parking decal on display. Enter through the student parking lot, and proceed to the gate on the left side of the parking lot (far end) to the gravel road near the wooded area and softball field. Staff members will direct you from there.
- Guests who park in the student lot next to the gym MUST turn right on HWY 30 when exiting. (NO VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED TO TURN LEFT ONTO HWY 30 WHEN EXITING THIS LOT.)
- If you park in the faculty parking lot between the high school and middle school, you MUST turn left onto HWY 30 when exiting through the bus gate. If you need to travel Nease Rd., you must use Hester Rd. to connect to Nease. (NO VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED TO TURN RIGHT ONTO HWY 30 WHEN EXITING THIS LOT.)

Graduation: Handicap Parking & Seating | May 28th
SEHS welcomes all family members and friends who would like to witness this joyous occasion! We do our best to accommodate all guests; therefore, here are a few guidelines you need to know in advance. If you are unable to attend Class Night or Graduation, please remember that we will professionally livestream these events via YouTube. The link will be accessible through the school website.
Handicapped Parking for Graduation:
- Any guest who has a handicapped license plate and/or hangtag is invited to park in the area closest to the stadium. You must have the license plate or hangtag to gain access to this area.
- All of the numbered parking spots at the baseball field and stadium are reserved for handicapped guests.
- To drive to this area, go to the left side of the student parking lot, near the treeline. NJROTC students will be there to assist you. At the gate, you will be asked to show your hangtag (or stop to show your handicapped license plate).
- Proceed through the gate, and down the gravel road toward the softball field.
- The paved spots closest to the bleachers are reserved for guests with wheelchairs.
- If you are driving a disabled person, you may drive up to the bleachers and drop them off at the ramp before you park. *Remember, you still must have the license plate or hangtag to gain access to this area.
Handicapped Seating:
- The bottom two rows of bleachers on the home side are strictly reserved for guests who have the pink handicapped seating pass, issued at graduation practice to any senior who requested them in advance. You must show your pass to the gate worker. Any guest who does not have the pink pass will not be allowed to sit in this area.
- Each disabled guest is allowed one escort; the escort must also have the pink pass.
- There are spots available for guests with wheelchairs.
- If you are seated in the designated handicap seating area without a pass, you will be asked to move.

Parking Lot Repainting | starting May 14th
If you painted your parking space this year, you are required to paint the entire space black by Sunday, May 22nd,
2022. You must choose one of the following dates to paint your space:- Saturday, May 14th, 8:00-12:00
- Sunday, May 22nd, 8:00-12:00
Failure to paint the spot black will result in the senior not participating in senior week or graduation activities until the spot has been painted. The paint must be black, water-based, exterior latex paint.

Uniform Donations | Starting May 16th
If you would like to donate your gently used uniform items, including “SE” T-shirts, khaki pants, and shorts, please bring them in on Monday, May 16th or Tuesday, May 17th. If you bring school uniform donations Monday or Tuesday, you will receive a wristband to dress down Wednesday through Friday, May 18th through 20th. Donated
items must be clean and in good condition. Your donations are greatly appreciated. -
College Decision Day | May 19th (video embedded)
College Decision Day is May 19th 9:30 A.M.
Reservations are required
