Sarah Puentes

  • Hi, my name is Sarah Puentes.  I have a military background and my MOS (job) was in Intelligence as well as Finance and Disbursing. I was also the first Water Combat Instructor on the West Coast. Before going into the Marines, I was offered a division two swimming scholarship to a college in South Dakota.  I believe that you should shoot for the moon and you will always have the stars to fall back upon.

I am married to my most amazing husband, Charley, and we have the most incredible son together, Isaiah #soccermom.  I cannot forget my parents, Brent and Libby, who are also a HUGE support system to us.  If your student were to ever come home telling you about the most wonderful cookies that they had at school, it was because my mother had made them for them.

I became a teacher because I was not only following my calling, but my goal was to make a positive impact on the students and to help inspire them to be the best that they can be.  I will push them past what they think they are capable of achieving. They will be loved and held accountable as if they were at home.  Know that they are in the best hands when they are at Effingham County Middle School and with me.

Dear Parents/Guardians: Welcome to 7th Grade Mathematics. I am very excited about the plans that have been made for Math and am looking forward to working with you and your child. Communication is vital. I send regular updates via e-mail of test dates and other classroom information using the school messenger system. Therefore it is vital that you keep your email address up-to-date with our data clerk Mrs. Kim Clements. Supplies Your child must have a composition book, black expo marker and pencils - preferable NOT mechanical pencils. Other items that would be useful to your child will be highlighters, glue sticks, scissors, a pair of earbuds or headphones. Grades: Re-tests will no longer be standard procedure following unit tests. Therefore, daily attendance in class is vital in order to be prepared for mid-unit and unit tests. If your student does not turn his/ her assignment in on time, 5 points will be taken off if the grade for each day that it is late. On day three the student will receive a 0 for that assignment. If your student is absent, he/she will have three days to turn it in. Tutorial Tutoring is available every week on Thursday mornings from 7:30am - 7:55 am. If your student needs additional help, please reach out to me and we will try to schedule additional tutoring as well. Classroom Expectations Please help me to reinforce our classroom expectations with your student. I do not expect any more from my students than I do from myself. Classroom expectations are: HAVE YOUR CHROMEBOOK CHARGED Be prepared Bring all needed materials to class. Be in your seat and ready to work by the time the bell rings. ABSOLUTELY NO ELECTRONICS ARE ALLOWED Be respectful Respect and be polite to all people. (NO BULLYING) Respect other people’s property. Keep hands and feet to yourself. Raise your hand to speak and wait to be called on. Remain quiet when the teacher and others are talking. Follow directions the first time. Obey all school rules. (Student Code of Conduct) Do not sleep in class Turn in the assignments on time and get help as needed. No food is allowed. Only clear water bottles with water are allowed. Do your Best! Once again, I am excited about the year ahead of us and this opportunity to work with you and your child. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to contact me here at the school at 912- 772-7001 or through email at spuentes@effingham.k12.ga.us. Thank you for joining me in making this an exciting year and a positive experience for everyone. Sincerely, Ms. Puentes
