My name is Laura Atkins. I began teaching in Savannah in 2002 after graduating from Illinois Wesleyan with a degree in Educational Studies. I have taught 2nd-5th grade throughout my career. Our family moves have led me to teach in North Carolina, central Illinois, and back in Georgia. I have a passion for literature and reading which led me to pursue a masters degree in Reading from Western Illinois University.  

Some of my favorite things include my family, friends... and the beach! My husband, Robert, and I have been married for longer than we've not been married! We have two children, Connor and Emma. We love to spend time together, travel, and create adventures near and far. 

I'm excited to share my enthusiasm for learning and inspire students to grow to be their best.
