I have always believed that exploring the art and history of language and literature can be a life-changing experience. ELA (English Language Arts) promotes analytical skills that foster problem-solving, critical thinking, imagination, creativity, and innovation! You need these skills in ELA class, but did you know that these skills can be applied in every other class, too? Whether researching magnetic fields in Physical Science or studying the colonial period in Georgia History this school year, you will use the reading and writing skills we learn in this class.

You will also learn how to use these skills beyond the classroom; there has never been a more critical time. This year, whether navigating through current events or discovering personal inspirations, you will realize the power of your thoughts, words, and writing.  I can't wait to see you grow.

I was born, raised, and educated in Savannah, Georgia's beautiful, historic city. I attended Savannah State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, Language, and Literature. I also attended Armstrong Atlantic University, where I obtained my teaching certificate in Middle Grades and Secondary Education, specializing in English: grades 6-12. I have a diverse, experienced background in education that includes receiving the Reading Endorsement, Gifted Endorsement, and the Georgia S.T.E.M. Institute training certificate. I began my teaching career in Chatham County Public Schools, but I am ecstatic about this opportunity to educate, learn, and expand in the Effingham County School district.

My teaching philosophy is that every child is deserving and capable of learning. I pledge to create an instructional environment that promotes literacy, high-level critical thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and enhanced creativity. Additionally, I pledge to foster a nurturing, safe environment where students feel free to express themselves within a space of respect, compassion, leadership, and integrity. Every voice counts. Every voice will be heard.

I have been married for ten years and have three wonderful children. Nothing is more precious than the time I spend with my family. I am active in my church, enjoy reaching out to help the community, and love fellowship with others. I believe that laughter is the best medicine for the soul. I pride myself on seeing beauty in the ordinary, whether admiring a bright, orange sunset or a stranger's honest, endearing smile.
