• Welcome to Mrs. Washington's 8th Grade ELA Journey! I am excited to embark on this year's voyage with you.

Don't you just LOVE a good book?

It has always been my belief that exploring the art and history of language and literature can be a life-changing experience. ELA (English Language Arts) promotes analytical skills that foster problem solving and critical thinking as well as imagination, creativity, and innovation! You definitely need these skills in ELA class, but did you know that these skills can be applied in every other class, too? Whether you are researching magnetic fields in Physical Science or studying the colonial period in Georgia History this school year, you will use the reading and writing skills we learn in this class.

You will also learn how to use these skills beyond the classroom, and there has never been a more important time to do so. This year, whether navigating through current events or discovering personal inspirations, you will realize the power of your thoughts, words, and writing.

I can't wait to see you grow.
