Degrees and Certifications:

I graduated from Georgia Southern University in May 2019.

Mr. Hunter Smith

I am honored to be your son or daughter's 8th Grade Social Studies teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. I am entering my 4th full year of teaching after graduating from Georgia Southern in May 2019. I am not a traditional teacher, having served in the United States Army on both Active Duty and as a Reservist for over ten years. I joined the U.S Army immediately upon graduating from high school and have served both across the nation and the world with some of the best men and women our country has to offer. It was during my deployment to the Middle East in 2015, supporting the fight against ISIS, that I first discovered my love for teaching while leading training for both U.S and coalition soldiers. After returning to the US and leaving active duty, I continued to serve my country as a teacher of our nation's future leaders.

I am originally from Blairsville, Georgia, nestled in the Appalachian Mountains at the northeast corner of our state. I first came to coastal Georgia and was stationed at Fort Stewart in 2014. I fell in love with the area, and upon leaving active duty, I chose to attend Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education and am certified to teach social studies and science. I have served as team and squad leader, vehicle commander, and, lastly, was at the top of my class in the U.S Army Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Warfare School at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. I am proud to have and continue to serve as a US Army Non-Commissioned Officer with multiple awards and a tour in the Middle East.

In addition to my teaching duties, I have the honor of being the assistant coach for the Ebenezer Middle School Football Team under Coach Robinson. Having played football in high school and college, it is an honor and a pleasure to work alongside the motivated and hardworking young men on our football team. I look forward to a fantastic year here at EMS, and I hope this gives you a better picture of who I am. If you ever have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
