Increase Digital Learning Integration in the Classroom

    What is ITSTL?

    Instructional Technology Support Team Leader

    Purpose:

    • Each school will have an ITSTL.
    • The purpose of the ITSTL is to help provide instructional technology support and Professional Development (PD) for faculty and staff at each school within the district.
    • Furthermore, the purpose is to make learning how to implement technology in the classroom personal by affording members of the school community the opportunity to present to their fellow teachers in an effort to provide encouragement and support from within.

    Implementation:

Each school principal should designate an ITSTL to collaborate with the district Instructional Technology Specialists (ITS) on training topics as well as disseminating the information to their school’s faculty and staff.  It is recommended that the ITSTL have (or be working toward) an Instructional Technology degree, various technology related certifications or have a propensity toward technology if possible.

    Duties of the ITSTL:

It is the responsibility of the ITSTL to act as a liaison between the school and the ITS.  The ITSTL is also responsible for creating PD opportunities within the school to be presented or facilitated by the ITSTL.  The ITSTL should also work with the ITS, district Technology Director, and appropriate school-level personnel to maintain their school’s technology plan.

All ITSTLs will be expected to redeliver/facilitate training for their school’s faculty and staff based on the document plan developed in conjunction with school administration.  It will be the responsibility of the ITSTL to document all faculty and staff that have been trained.

Each ITSTL should maintain a journal in the ITSTL Google Shared Drive that includes all activities performed by the ITSTL. Each monthly entry must include:

    • Any sessions taught/facilitated by the ITSTL (if applicable)
      • Topic
      • Name of facilitator
      • Number of participants
      • An overall observation of PD experience
    • A minimum of 1 paragraph describing an observation of a faculty/staff member who is integrating technology in an innovative, engaging, or effective manner based on training or assistance provided by the ITSTL.
    • A maximum of 1 paragraph describing all other ITSTL related interactions (i.e. Emailed Tips, Screencasts, one-on-one training, PLC meetings attended, etc…)

Each ITSTL will receive a $2,000 stipend for additional duties required to fulfill the duties of the position.  In addition, a substitute teacher will be provided so that the ITSTL can attend monthly training sessions with the ITS as well as re-delivering material to their school.

*Additional benefits include funding to attend the GaETC conference in Atlanta and a district-issued Chromebook for professional use.

    School Level ITSTL PD Sessions:

Before the second district level ITSTL meeting, the ITSTL will work with school-level administration to determine and document the best way to disseminate information to the school’s faculty and staff.

The ITSTL should facilitate the presentation of a minimum of 8 PD opportunities for their school’s faculty and staff.

    • Of the 8 PD opportunities
      • 5 opportunities should be face-to-face training sessions.

    District ITSTL Meeting

All ITSTLs will meet with the ITS the first Thursday of each month from 8:30-12pm in the professional development area at the Central Office to receive training on the selected topics for each month.  ITSTLs will also have the option to collaborate and/or receive one-on-one training from and 1-4pm.

The ITSTLs will provide suggestions for monthly trainings prior to meeting with the ITS.  The ITSs, in collaboration with the ITSTLs, will determine monthly topics. In some instances, it may be necessary for the ITSs to designate the monthly topic based on district initiatives.
