Hello families!! Welcome to 5th grade!
Isn’t it exciting to start another school year? Aren’t you looking forward to all the new things your child will learn and the skills they will develop? I know I am, as I always look forward to another year with new faces!
I want to take a moment and tell you about myself. My name is Sara Lobaugh, and I will be teaching ELA and Social Studies this year at Sandhill Elementary. This will be my tenth year teaching. I have taught all along the spectrum of elementary grades, beginning my career in Pre-K, teaching second grade, third grade, and now my adventure continues in fifth grade!
I moved to Georgia ten years ago from Ohio, although I am a native of Kentucky. I earned my bachelor's at Ohio University and furthered my educational career at Valdosta State University where I obtain a Master’s Degree in curriculum and accomplished teaching. I’ve been married to my husband Alex for 6 years. We have two wonderful, active children, Wren who is four and Henry who is two. I also have two dogs, Gracie and Dougie, and a cat, Mr. Meowgi!
I want all of my families to be aware of what is happening inside the classroom, therefore I ask you to please join the Remind class to receive up to date announcements and one on one messaging on your phone or personal device. It really is the easiest and fastest way to stay in contact. I will also send out weekly newsletters! If you need help setting up Remind, please do not hesitate to ask me and I will assist you.
I have nothing but great expectations for your child, and those expectations will be realistic and attainable; but I will need your help along the way. Children will learn the importance of education when their parents show an interest. Children need guidance and reminded of their goals. You and I will be those guides and role models for them. Together, we will help shape these children into the lifelong learners they will become!
Here’s to another great year at Sandhill Elementary, and to the class of 2026!
