About Mrs. Hayes:

Welcome to 7th-grade Global Studies! My name is Candace Hayes, and I’ll be your child’s Social Studies teacher for the 2022-2023 school year!

I am originally from Jesup, Georgia, and am a graduate of Wayne County High. However, I am an eagle through and through at this point. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Georgia Southern University in 2008 and after a short-lived career in events and public service, I went back to GSU to obtain a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and start my career in teaching. Now, here I am a GSU Eagle AND an Ebenezer Eagle! That is what you call a double eagle!

I recently celebrated 13 years of marriage with my wonderful husband, Steven. We have two boys: Wesley and Stetson. Between them, and the 100ish children I teach, I am always on my toes! When I have downtime (AKA the summer) I enjoy traveling with my family and friends (when we can!) and learning about all things Social Studies and Science (my two areas of certification). I usually read non-fiction, as I am always “geeking out” on something factual (usually scientific or historical).

The Curriculum:

7th Grade Social Studies: This year, the students will be learning a lot about foreign lands! Many students who have always found Social Studies fun and exciting will likely feel even more interested this year, while others may feel less involved as the curriculum is just as I said—Foreign. However, we will have interesting ways of learning about these places to keep the students involved.
