Hello and welcome to English Students of Other Languages (ESOL) at Blandford Elementary School in Rincon, Georgia.

Potential ESOL students are determined by the student registration form (section 8) that asks if another language other than English is spoken at home. If an additional language is noted, the students are given the language proficiency screener called the WAPT for kindergarten or WIDA Screener Placement Test for grades 1-12. Parents/Guardians are notified if their child qualifies.

The ESOL program is designed to help students that speak an additional language at home other than English. The ESOL program works with students to promote learning in four educational learning domains at the school: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students that qualify for ESOL services at Blandford Elementary remain in their homerooms but  receive additional service from the ESOL support teacher.

The ESOL teacher has the ability to use two teaching methods to help the students.  The students can be pulled-out to the resource room for instruction from the  ESOL teacher or the ESOL teacher can push-in and provide help in the general education teacher’s room. ESOL students in kindergarten (k) through second (2nd) grade will receive 45 minutes of service. Students in third (3rd) through fifth (5th) grade will receive 50 minutes of service. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
