Welcome Effingham County Schools Athletics
Thank you for visiting the Effingham County Schools Athletic website. It's an honor for our coaches and staff members to serve the students of Effingham County. Our administrators, teachers, coaches, and community members care deeply about our athletic programs, student-athletes, and the overall success of our students. We feel strongly that athletics teaches our young people so much about life and builds character, discipline, a solid work ethic, and helps build positive self esteem. Athletics at the Middle and High School levels teach our student athletes the team concept and how to work together for the good of the team and school. In Effingham County, we have a passionate community and fan base that truly supports our 3 middle schools and 2 high schools. We thank you for your support and encourage each of you to continue to support our programs, student-athletes, and coaches. While its important to develop winning programs on the field, our ultimate goal is to develop young men and women of character and integrity.
The Effingham County School System offers 14 sports for our high school student athletes to participate in including: Football, Fast-Pitch Softball, Girls and Boys Cross Country, Volleyball, Competition Cheerleading, Game Cheerleading, Wrestling, Girls and Boys Basketball, Girls and Boys Soccer, Baseball, Girls and Boys Track, Girls and Boys Tennis, Girls and Boys Golf, and One-Act Play. Each of our teams participates under the Georgia High School Association (GHSA). Local and State Eligibility is handled at the school level by the Head Coach of each sport and the Athletic Director. All High School Athletes must have a current Physical on file in the Athletic Directors Office and be Academically Eligible.
Our Middle Schools offer 11 sports for our student athletes to participate in including: Football, Fast Pitch Softball, Girls and Boys Tennis, Volleyball, Girls and Boys Basketball, Baseball, Girls and Boys Soccer, Competition Cheerleading, Athletic Cheerleading, Girls and Boys Track, and Girls and Boys Golf. Middle School Eligibility is handled at the school level by the Head Coach of each sport and the Athletic Director. All Middle School Athletes must have a current physical on file in the Athletic Directors Office and be Academically Eligible to participate.
Participation in Athletics at both the Middle and High School level is a privilege. We expect our coaches to hold Student Athletes to high standards inside and outside the classroom. Playing time is earned and is determined by the head coach. It is important to always remember that athletics should not interfere with a student's academic progress and it requires a great deal of time to maintain good grades and be a good teammate. Let's always remember that our athletes are students first.
The athletic programs at both levels are funded by gate receipts and booster club fundraising efforts. Please continue to support our students athletes and help them grow into high performing successful citizens! Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you at a game this season. Please do not hesitate to call our staff for help.
