SHES Chess Club will meet after-school once a month. Students in grades 4-5 are invited to attend. Meetings will last from dismissal until 4:00. Parents must provide transportation from school for their child if they stay for chess club.
Students will learn piece placement, opening moves, middle game and end game strategies.
At the end of the school year, there will be a club tournament.
Chess promotes problem solving, reasoning, and logical thinking.
Chess builds confidence, social skills, and competition etiquette.
Chess provides an opportunity for students to compete in a supervised and supportive learning environment.
