Honey Ridge Agricenter is a 324 acre working farm owned and operated by the Effingham County School District. The Agricenter is located in Guyton, GA. The farm, formally known as Honey Ridge Plantation, was acquired by the school district in the Fall of 2016 and has become one of the focal points of Agriculture Education in the county. The Agricenter is used for numerous events including annual first grade tours for the district's eight elementary schools, the Fall Farm Festival and Spring Fling Farm Day, as well as STEM/STEAM activities. The farm houses many show animals that allow students to participate in Supervised Agriculture Experience Programs.
The use of the Agricenter continues to expand to include Community events, Young Farmer activities, Livestock Shows, Mini Tractor Pulls, 4H Events, Boy/Girl Scout activities, Cross Country and 5K runs, Horse Shows, JROTC events, and activities partnered with Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Georgia Southern University, and Savannah Technical College.
The Agricenter is a major component in educating the students and community of Effingham County on the importance of Food, Shelter, and Clothing as necessary needs to our livelihood. Agriculture!!
