NZS FAQs
-
I have a student who is not yet enrolled. Will they be approved to attend the same out of district school that their sibling is attending?
We cannot guarantee enrollment into a school that is outside of the zoned district. If there is available space, we always allow for School Choice in the spring.
If your preferred school was not available for School Choice, you may put in a hardship request to be reviewed at the end of the summer.
-
Can I move my student to another school after the start of the school year?
Requests to transfer a student to a school outside of their zone are accepted prior to the start of the school year. If you run into a situation where you feel it is in the best interest of your student to relocate to a different school during the school year, please call the office of Tim Hood, the Superintendent of Administrative Services: 912-754-6491 ext.1111.

I want my student to continue attending the same school as their current Pre-K program, but they are not zoned for that school next year. What can I do?
PreK students entering Kindergarten in the upcoming school year will need to complete a School Choice application for their requested school. If their school is not open for School Choice, then they can complete the hardship form which will become available after the last day of school. We look at hardship applications during the summer after enrollment numbers settle down so we can get an accurate count at each school. Based on available space, we may or may not be able to approve those.
-
Can my student continue to ride the bus to their after school program if we choose to keep them at their current school instead of attending their new zoned school?
Students who attend a school outside of their zone do not receive school bus services. If your after school program relies on a school bus to transport your student, your student will not be assigned to that bus. They will need an alternate form of transportation.
We do have LEAP and YMCA afterschool onsite programs at our elementary schools:
Blandford - YMCA
Ebenezer - YMCA
Guyton - LEAP
Marlow - LEAP
Rincon - LEAP
Sand Hill - LEAP
South Effingham - YMCA
Springfield - YMCA -
