I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. My daddy was a school teacher and an administrator for 40 years and I spent a lot of time at school. During the summer, I spent many hours "playing school" where he was working. In my imagination, I taught every grade, different kinds of students, and every subject. Education has always been a part of my family and now it compliments my life tremendously!

I attended Georgia Southern University for my graduate and undergraduate degrees. I began majoring in Early Childhood Education; however, I changed to Special Education after my first education class. I have always had a heart for children with special needs; I have been blessed by the many lives that have passed through my classroom doors.

My teaching career began at Marlow Elementary School in August 1998. One year later, my classroom moved to Sand Hill and I have been here ever since. In 1999-2000 and 2014-2015, I was chosen as Special Education Teacher of the Year for Effingham County, in 2005-2006 I was Teacher of the Year for Sand Hill Elementary, and in August 2017 I was selected as a WTOC Top Teacher. I was so honored by all of these awards. In addition to teaching at SHES, I teach an undergraduate course for students majoring in education at Georgia Southern University.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my husband, my friends, volunteering at Ogeechee Area Hospice, and spending time with my "fur babies" Scout, Pippa, Dill, Poppy-Wynn, and the cutest beagle ever....Atticus! Atticus is a certified Therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International and he enjoys visiting students at school, patients in Ogeechee Area Hospice, and being with his mom.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years and we have three children. We were a military family for 24 years and I enjoyed this time, living in several different countries. My family is now settled in Effingham county and I enjoy time together camping, going out on our boat, loving on my "fur babies", and awaiting the arrival of my first grandchild this fall. Working with children has always been a passion for me. I owned my own daycare for 7 years, worked and directed childcare for 14 years, and been a paraprofessional for 8 years. I look forward to making a difference in the life of your child!

I am so excited to be a part of the class! I have been married to my sweet husband for 12 years and we started dating in high school. I have two daughters, Annie 96) and Abby (3). They both have huge personalities and keep us entertained. I was born in southern New Jersey and moved to Georgia when the military brought us here in 2010. I have 2 fur babies-Miller, a golden retriever, and Spaz, a bichon. They're both old boys and have been a part of our family long before we had our daughters! I graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 2014, earning my undergraduate degree in Psychology. I've always dreamed of becoming a teacher and love working with children. I look forward to learning so many wonderful things about your child and I cannot wait to be a part of their journey.
