Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Hayes

Hello, Gator Families!

I am Mrs. Hayes. I am very excited to start the 2020-2021 school year with you. We are all a bit rusty with learning, but rest assure we will work together. Before you know it, we will be ROCKING our last year in elementary school. 5th Grade is the best year ever.

This is my 1st year at Guyton Elementary; however, it is my 18th year teaching. Fourteen of my years were in Texas. That is right. I am a born and raised Texan (Deep South Texas, by the Mexican border). I have taught PreK-2nd ESOL (2 years), 3rd Grade (4 years), 4th-grade Dual Language-teaching in both Spanish and English (7 years), and 5th Grade (3 years). I was also an Instructional Facilitator and taught K-5th grade teachers and students (2 years).

I attended the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg Texas, where I studied English with a concentration in Spanish Journalism. I received a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in elementary mathematics from the University of Texas in Brownsville. I am currently attending Walden University for my doctorate in Early Childhood Education. My anticipated completion date is 2022.

I am married to a wonderful man (Brad) and have three children: two girls  (Mamie and Cheyenne) and a boy (Wyatt). As a family, we tend to our cows and chickens. We also enjoy watching classic movies and driving our 4-wheelers and tractors.

Some Fun Facts About Me that you would NEVER know:

  1. Spanish was my first language.
  2. I was a marathon runner in Texas.
  3. I love fishing!

I am looking forward to a great year of growing and learning!
