District Lock Screen (2020-2021)
The details for each month's lock screen will go live on the 1st of each month.
-
Aug 2020
Orginally designed as the July 2020 Lock Screen, this image was not deployed district-wide until August of 2020 due to technical difficulties. We will deploy a new Lock Screen each month. You might notice that all of the images showcased were taken here in Effingham County by ECSD employee, Kimberly Larson.
With this Lock Screen we wanted to highlight the newly updated Mission, Vision, and Beliefs of the Effingham County School District.
Our Vision
Engaging learners for future success.
Our Mission
Make every moment count because every student matters.
We Believe
- student engagement is key to success
- in high expectations for all
- that learning is a shared responsibility
- in supporting the whole child
- a positive, caring staff makes a difference
- in safe learning environments
- everyone should be treated with respect
The flower in this picture is that of a Hibiscus mutabilis and was taken over in Silverwood at Mrs. Marsha Lott's house. It is an amazing flower. According to Wikipedia, originally native to SE China and adjoining countries, it is now found on all continents except Antarctica. One of the most amazing bits of information about this type of flower is that it blooms a bright white, then turns pink, then bright red, and finally dies... all in the SAME DAY! If you are lucky enough to catch one in bloom I highly suggest that you get an photo!

The Photo
As a working farm, Honey Ridge Agricenter is an amazing educational experience for all visitors. This photo was taken at the enterance of the farm with a 50mm lens. The lens allowed me to take such a narrow DOF image. You might notice some mirroring around the edge of the photo. That was added via digital darkroom to add for clipping when applied to the wide range of monitor sizes throughout the district.
