Kindergarten through 1st semester of 1st grade take the Kindergarten WIDA-ACCESS Placement Test (K-WAPT) to measure the English language proficuency.
Kindergarten students in first semester whose combined listening and speaking score is ≤ 28, then the student qualifies and is identified as an English Learner (EL).
Kindergarten students in 2nd semester and first graders in the first semester are administered all four componets.
1. Listening and Speaking is ≤ 28
2. the reading score is ≤ 11,
3. the Writing score is ≤ 12,
the student qualifies and is identified as an English Learner (EL)
The WIDA Screener is administered to students from 2nd semester grade 1 - 2nd semester grade 12.
All four language domans are administered:Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. If the student's Grade Level Adjustment Overall composite score is ≤ 5.0 on the WIDA Screener, the student qualifies to be classified as an English Learner.
Kindergarten- Students must make a 5.0 or higher in ALL 4 domains.
Grades 1-12: Students must make an OVERALL score of a 5.0 or higher.
A Reclassification Meeting for students in grades 1-12 will be held to determine if a child who earns an overall score of a 4.3 or higher is ready to exit the ESOL program. That meeting will be held at the end of the school year once ACCESS score reports are available. The team will consist of the ESOL teacher, testing coordinator, a school administrator, the students' teacher(s), and parents/guardians.
