Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Anne Buttimer Harvey

I was born and raised in Savannah - part of the grand Irish community there.  After graduating from St. Vincent's Academy, I attended Armstrong State College (way back when it was a college!) as well as Georgia Southern University.  I first earned a masters degree in Psychology, and then a masters degree in Education specializing in children with emotional and behavioral disorders.  After teaching elementary EBD classes for ten years (seven here in Effingham), I was ready for a change.  It's not true that you can't go home again.  I was fortunate to be able to teach at my dear alma mater, St. Vincent's Academy for nine years.  Still, I missed working with children with special needs.  In 2016, I was overjoyed to secure a position as PSI teacher here at Blandford Elementary!

My husband, Rob, and I live in Rincon.  Rob, along with his business partner, has run a pest control company that serves Effingham, Chatham, Bulloch and Bryan counties for 18 years now.  Our daughter, Moira, and her husband, Ty, live in Savannah with their adorable sons, Jackson and Bradley.  Our younger daughter, Mary, graduated from Armstrong, works in Savannah, and is currently working on another degree.

Mrs. Polly Newman and I are starting our sixth year at BES.  We are so blessed to have her! She is patient and caring, and contributes consistently to planning, lessons, and classroom management.  And our students love her!  We are so happy to be joined by Mrs. Courtney Heyward this year!  She readily fit right into our PSI class, and is going to be a valuable support for our students.

As a team, we  strive to provide the best educational setting for our students so as to maximize their potential.  Each of our children is unique, charming, and eager to learn.  We look for the lessons and activities best suited to enhance their learning experiences.  Blandford Elementary - as we well know - is the best educational environment to achieve these goals.
