Hello! I am Mrs. Summitt and I teach 3rd grade English Language Arts here at South Effingham Elementary. This is my third year teaching full time in an ELA classroom. However, I have been at South Effingham Elementary for 4 full years. I was priveledged enough to complete all of my student teaching and training for several years here at South. I graduated from Georgia Southern back in December of 2016. Last year I obtained my Gifted Certification from Effingham County.
I have been married for a little over a year and we have a wonderful furball named Oliver. My husband and I share a passion for teaching children and and cultivating creativity. We both serve as our Children's Church Directors and love to facilitate learning and growth through action and community. I am from the South originally but I have lived in 5 states and attended 12 schools, including being homeschooled. I have two married sisters and wonderful neices and nephews. Family is a core value to me, and I try to bring that into every classroom I work in. That not only includes forming relationships with my students but with their parents as well. We will always be one team for your child.
I believe that every child is gifted with creativity and a passion for the new. It is my job to present them with a variety of opportunities that engage their curiosity and creativity. That is one of the main reasons I love to teach reading and writing. Both subjects, while following processes and rules, bend towards the individual child. Through reading and writing, students can learn to express themselves and process all the ups and downs of life. Having the opportunity to teach children those pathways truly is a priveledge.
WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS
