    About Me
Good day young minds of the future! I would like to take a minute to introduce myself. I'm Mrs. McDonald your Social Studies director. I have been teaching since 2003 where I started my journey in North Carolina. I taught in North Carolina for 3 years before moving to Maryland, where I taught for 5 years. In 2011 my family was blessed with the opportunity to move overseas, and we seized this once in a lifetime chance. We moved to Germany! I was able to secure a job teaching at Ramstein American High School on the Air Force base.  We spent a glorious 2.5 years traveling and learning about Europe. It was amazing! After Germany, our journey brought us here to Georgia and we love it. My first two years in Georgia I taught in a neighboring county and learned so much about my students, the area, and myself.  In 2016, I was blessed with the opportunity to work here in Effingham County at the oppening of our STEM program. This will be my 4th year here at STEM and I couldn't be more proud of our work here.
I can't say enough great things about the students, the parents, my colleagues, and the administration at STEM. We have worked hard to create an amazing learning environment and I'm so proud to have played a part. I'm so looking forward to our third year at STEM, and making amazing learning memories with the students. I'm even more excited to be serving as Student Council Advisor and Senior Committee Advisor. We will continue to work hard at establishing traditions for our STEM students.
Over the course of my years teaching, I have taught just about every Social Studies course within the field. From US History to American Government to Economics and even Sociology and Psychology, I have taught them all. I have taught both AP and Honors levels, and most recently received my College Board training in AP US Government & Politics. During the first year at STEM we were very successful at passing the College Board AP US Government & Politics test, with over 75% of the students earning a 3 or better. What an amazing accomplishment for our students! This upcoming school year will be my second year teaching AP Macroeconomics, and I'm excited to get to teach the Class of 2020 again.
I've also coached volleyball, and our team in Germany made it to All Europeans and we won! I have seen many things and worn many hats in my years teaching, so please don't hesitate to ask me any questions- I'm always willing to help.
