We are excited to announce a special program that our kindergartners are participating in this school year. The “Principal’s Book Club” is held each month and is used with weekly reading logs. Teachers send home a reading log at the beginning of each month requesting that someone read along with the child for 10 minutes each night. At the end of the month, if the child has returned a completed reading log showing he/she was read with each day (Monday – Thursday), he/she will be invited to the media center to pick out a new book. Mr. Weese, SEES Principal, signs the books and congratulates the children for their reading accomplishments that month. The children can then bring the book home and keep it in their home “library.”

Reading aloud with your child daily helps promote the development of language and helps them gain the skills and knowledge needed for later success in reading. Our goal with the “Principal’s Book Club” is to promote a positive attitude about reading that will help our kindergartners develop a love for reading. We are looking forward to a successful book club with our young students.
