Individual Counseling
Individual counseling consists of prevention and/or intervention activities to meet students’ immediate and future needs to help them be successful at school. These needs can be necessitated by events and conditions in students’ lives and the school climate and culture.
Individual school counseling should not be confused with ongoing therapy. If a student should need more intense, on-going counseling, I will gladly share known community resources to receive that help. Students may be seen by their school counselor by student, parent, teacher, or administrative requests.Small GroupsSmall groups extend and expand the learning that takes place during classroom guidance. Small groups meet with the counselor usually for 4 to 6 weeks and have from 4-8 members.
Small group topics include:Behavior Interventions
Friendship Skills
Grief Support
Self-Esteem
Understanding Feelings
Leadership Skills
Classroom Guidance
The School Guidance Curriculum consists of structured lessons designed to help students achieve the desired school counseling competencies and to provide all students with the knowledge and skills appropriate for their developmental level. In addition to these lessons, students receive lessons on careers, safety, and any other needs based on teacher requests. Students receive classroom guidance approximately once a month.
