Welcome to the Attendance Office for South Effingham High School.

Student attendance at high school is much different than middle school.  Attendance is taken in each of the four classes a student attends each day. Please take time to read the information about high school attendance in the student handbook your child will receive at the beginning of school.

Students who are absent from school will need to bring an excuse to their first period teacher within 3 days of the absence.  Handwritten notes from parents and/or doctor notes are accepted.  Please do not fax or email excuses.

Please email or call me if you have general questions about your student's attendance.

Certificates of Attendance for Learner's Permits and Driver's Licenses

All students applying for either a Learner's Permit or Driver's License will need a Certificate of Attendance from the school.  A student who has less than 10 unexcused absences in the previous and/or current school year will be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance.  You will need to apply several days in advance of your appointment as it takes 48 to 72 hours to process these requests.  Students need to apply in the front office for a Certificate of Attendance.

If a student misses 10 or more unexcused school days at any time during the school year, a Certificate of Non-Compliance will be submitted to the State of Georgia.  These students will not be eligible to apply for a Learner's Permit or Driver's License, or if they have one it will be suspended for a period of one year.  This law applies to all students between their 14th birthday and until their 18th birthday.
